What is Aptana Studio 3 ?

Step Wise Installation of Aptana Studio 3 on Ubuntu and Linux Mint
Installing Prerequisites for Aptana Studio 3
Important Note : Before beginning the installation, first install the prerequisites for Aptana Studio. The prerequisites will create an environment for better performance of Aptana Studio on your Ubuntu & Linux Mint system.
Step 1 : Open your terminal by pressing CTRL + ALT + T from your keyboard and run or copy the following command in the terminal to install Open JDK 7.0 version with libjpeg62 libraries, libwebkitgtk libraries and git-core libraries on your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system.
$ sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jdk libjpeg62 libwebkitgtk-1.0-0 git-core
Step 2 : Before installing Aptana make sure your system must installed with Sun/Oracle's Java 1.5 or higher version. OpenJDK is still not supported by Aptana Studio 3 yet. So install the Oracle Java 7 Installer as mentioned in Step 4 to Step 7 below.
Step 3 : Next, we run the same command as enlisted in Step 2, just omit the name of openjdk-7-jdk from it. So, run the new command in the terminal, which looks like as given below, on your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system.
$ sudo apt-get install libjpeg62 libwebkitgtk-1.0-0 git-core
Step 4 : Next, run or copy the following command in the terminal to add the PPA for Java on your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system.
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
Step 5 : It's time to update your system. So, run or copy the following command in the terminal to update your sources.list file on your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system.
$ sudo apt-get update
Step 6 : Finally, run or copy the following command in the terminal to install Oracle's Java 7 Installer on your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system.
$ sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer
While installing Oracle Java 7 Installer, the terminal prompted you a screen where it will ask you about agreeing to Oracle JDK License. So hit Enter on "Ok" here.
Then finally, select "Yes" to agree the "Oracle Binary Code License Agreement for Java SE Platform Products and JavaFX", as shown below here.
That's All, we have successfully installed the Oracle Java 7 Installer on our system which is the basic prerequisites for Aptana Studio 3 on Ubuntu and Linux Mint system. Now, we move forward to install the studio on our system.
Download Aptana Studio 3
Step 1 : Now, you have to download the recent version of Aptana Studio from their Official Download Page.
Step 2 : Select the "Standalone Version". By default it is selected but in case if not then please select "Standalone Version" and provide your name and email address in space and then click on "Download" link to download the latest version of Aptana Studio for your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system.
Extract the Downloaded Compressed Aptana Studio Package
Step 1 : After downloading the latest release of Aptana Studio, it's time to extract the download package of Aptana Studio on your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system. For this, run the following command in the terminal to extract it in your /opt file system.
$ sudo unzip Aptana_Studio_3_Setup_Linux_x86_64_3.4.2.zip -d /opt
That's All, you have unzipped the compressed package for Aptana Studio on your system. You are already reached your destination..
Add the menu shortcut for Aptana Studio 3
Important Note : If you want to create menu shortcuts for Aptana Studio on your Ubuntu or Linux Mint system then follow the steps given below. The main advantage of creating shortcut is that you can search it from your Dash and it would be easier for us to access the IDE easily on our system.
Step 1 : Open the terminal and run or copy the following command in the terminal to download the AptanaStudio3.desktop file created by Sam Clarke which is helpful in adding menu shortcuts for Aptana Studio on your Ubuntu system.
$ wget http://www.samclarke.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/AptanaStudio3.desktop
Step 2 : Finally, run or copy the following command in the terminal to move this file to your /usr/share/applications/ directory on your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system.
$ sudo mv AptanaStudio3.desktop /usr/share/applications/AptanaStudio3.desktop
Now, Click on the "Dash Home" and search for "Aptana Studio", you will see an icon for Aptana Studio. Click on it and your Aptana Studio will open soon. As you open first, it will look like this,
