Introduction

Greg Kroah-Hartman announced on 17 November 2012, the immediate availability for download of the seventh maintenance release for the stable Linux 3.6 kernel series.

Linux kernel 3.6.7 brings updates to various DRM drivers, such as for the Intel i915 and Radeon video drivers, some iSCSI fixes, updated to XFS, NFS, GFS2 filesystems, IPv4 improvements, as well as numerous ALSA sound fixes.

Step Wise Installation of Linux Kernel 3.6.7 on Ubuntu 12.10, 12.04

Step 1 : Before beginning the installation, First download all the deb packages that are enlisted above this post for particular 32 & 64 bit system.

Step 2 : When you download all the deb package of particular bit system, then open your terminal and run the following command in the terminal to install download Linux Kernel 3.6.7 Image on your Ubuntu system.
$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb
That's All and now enjoy the new features of Linux Kernel 3.6.7 on your Ubuntu system.



Step Wise Installation of Linux Kernel 3.6.7 on Ubuntu & Linux Mint

Important Note : This is an alternative method for installation of Linux Kernel 3.6.7 on your Ubuntu system. Never use both methods, use only one for the installation of Linux Kernel.

Step 1 : Before beginning the installation, Open the terminal by pressing CTRL + ALT + T from your keyboard. When the terminal opens, run the following command in the terminal to change your current directory to tmp directory using cd command on your Ubuntu & Linux Mint system.
$ cd /tmp
Step 2 : Next, run the following command in the terminal to download Linux Kernel 3.6.7 using wget command on your Ubuntu & Linux Mint system.
$ wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/47950494/upubuntu.com/linux-kernel-3.6.7 -O linux-kernel-3.6.7
Step 3 : Next, run the following command in the terminal to change the permission on downloaded Linux Kernel 3.6.7. package using chmod command on your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system.
$ chmod +x linux-kernel-3.6.7
Step 4 : Next, run the following command in the terminal to install Linux Kernel 3.6.7 on your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system.
$ sudo sh linux-kernel-3.6.7
Step 5 : Finally, run the following command in the terminal to reboot your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system.
$ sudo reboot
That's All and now enjoy the new features of Linux Kernel 3.6.7 on your Ubuntu and Linux Mint system.

Step Wise Uninstall Linux Kernel 3.6.7 on Ubuntu & Linux Mint

Step 1 : If you face any problem in using Linux Kernel 3.6.7 on your Ubuntu & Linux Mint system, then you can run the following command in the terminal to uninstall Linux Kernel 3.6.7 on your Ubuntu & Linux Mint system.
$ sudo apt-get purge linux-image-3.6.7*
That's All and now enjoy the previous version of Linux Kernel on your Ubuntu & Linux Mint system.
